Summary

7:84 This was the dedication for the altar from the leaders of Israel, when it was anointed: twelve silver platters, twelve silver sprinkling bowls, and twelve gold pans.

Numbers 8:4

8:4 This is how the lampstand was made: ¹  It was beaten work in gold; ²  from its shaft to its flowers it was beaten work. According to the pattern which the Lord had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

Numbers 22:18

22:18 Balaam replied ³  to the servants of Balak, “Even if Balak would give me his palace full of silver and gold, I could not transgress the commandment ⁴  of the Lord my God ⁵  to do less or more.

31:54 So Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and commanders ¹²  of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting as a memorial ¹³  for the Israelites before the Lord.

[8:4]  ¹ tn The Hebrew text literally has “and this is the work of the lampstand,” but that rendering does not convey the sense that it is describing how it was made.

[8:4]  ² sn The idea is that it was all hammered from a single plate of gold.

[22:18]  ³ sn In the light of subsequent events one should not take too seriously that Balaam referred to Yahweh as his God. He is referring properly to the deity for which he is acting as the agent.
