Proverbs 15:3

15:3 The eyes of the Lord ¹  are in every place,

keeping watch ²  on those who are evil and those who are good.

Proverbs 31:27

31:27 She watches over ³  the ways of her household,

and does not eat the bread of idleness. ⁴ 

[15:3]  ¹ sn The proverb uses anthropomorphic language to describe God’s exacting and evaluating knowledge of all people.

[15:3]  ² tn The form צֹפוֹת (tsofot, “watching”) is a feminine plural participle agreeing with “eyes.” God’s watching eyes comfort good people but convict evil.

[31:27]  ³ tn The first word of the eighteenth line begins with צ (tsade), the eighteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet.

[31:27]  ⁴ sn The expression bread of idleness refers to food that is gained through idleness, perhaps given or provided for her. In the description of the passage one could conclude that this woman did not have to do everything she did; and this line affirms that even though she is well off, she will eat the bread of her industrious activity.
