Proverbs 5:5

5:5 Her feet go down to death;

her steps lead straight to the grave. ¹ 

Proverbs 7:11

7:11 (She is loud and rebellious,

she ²  does not remain ³  at home –

[5:5]  ¹ tn The term שְׁאוֹל (she’ol, “grave”) is paralleled to “death,” so it does not refer here to the realm of the unblessed.

[7:11]  ² tn Heb “her feet.” This is a synecdoche, a part for the whole; the point is that she never stays home, but is out and about all the time.

[7:11]  ³ tn Heb “dwell” or “settle”; NAB “her feet cannot rest.”
