Psalms 119:119

119:119 You remove all the wicked of the earth like slag. ¹ 

Therefore I love your rules. ² 

Psalms 101:8

101:8 Each morning I will destroy all the wicked people in the land,

and remove all evildoers from the city of the Lord.

Psalms 75:8

75:8 For the Lord holds in his hand a cup full

of foaming wine mixed with spices, ³ 

and pours it out. ⁴ 

Surely all the wicked of the earth

will slurp it up and drink it to its very last drop.” ⁵ 

[119:119]  ¹ sn Traditionally “dross” (so KJV, ASV, NIV). The metaphor comes from metallurgy; “slag” is the substance left over after the metallic ore has been refined.

[119:119]  ² sn As he explains in the next verse, the psalmist’s fear of judgment motivates him to obey God’s rules.

[75:8]  ³ tn Heb “for a cup [is] in the hand of the Lord, and wine foams, it is full of a spiced drink.” The noun מֶסֶךְ (mesekh) refers to a “mixture” of wine and spices.

[75:8]  ⁴ tn Heb “and he pours out from this.”

[75:8]  ⁵ tn Heb “surely its dregs they slurp up and drink, all the wicked of the earth.”
