[119:119]  1 sn Traditionally “dross” (so KJV, ASV, NIV). The metaphor comes from metallurgy; “slag” is the substance left over after the metallic ore has been refined.

[119:119]  2 sn As he explains in the next verse, the psalmist’s fear of judgment motivates him to obey God’s rules.

[75:8]  3 tn Heb “for a cup [is] in the hand of the Lord, and wine foams, it is full of a spiced drink.” The noun מֶסֶךְ (mesekh) refers to a “mixture” of wine and spices.

[75:8]  4 tn Heb “and he pours out from this.”

[75:8]  5 tn Heb “surely its dregs they slurp up and drink, all the wicked of the earth.”
