[119:25]  1 tn Heb “my soul clings to the dirt.” The Hebrew term נֶפֶשׁ (nefesh, “being; soul”) with a pronominal suffix is often equivalent to a pronoun, especially in poetry (see BDB 660 s.v. נֶפֶשׁ 4.a).

[119:25]  2 tn Heb “according to your word.” Many medieval Hebrew mss read the plural “your words.”

[119:88]  3 tn Heb “according to.”

[119:88]  4 tn The cohortative verbal form with vav (ו) conjunctive indicates purpose/result after the preceding imperative.

[119:88]  5 tn Heb “of your mouth.”

[143:11]  6 tn Heb “name,” which here stands metonymically for God’s reputation.

[143:11]  7 tn The imperfect verbal forms in vv. 11-12a are understood as expressing the psalmist’s desire. Note the petitionary tone of vv. 7-10a.

[143:11]  8 tn Heb “by your justice bring out my life from trouble.”
