Psalms 130:2-4

130:2 O Lord, listen to me! ¹ 

Pay attention to ²  my plea for mercy!

130:3 If you, O Lord, were to keep track of ³  sins,

O Lord, who could stand before you? ⁴ 

130:4 But ⁵  you are willing to forgive, ⁶ 

so that you might ⁷  be honored. ⁸ 

[130:2]  ¹ tn Heb “my voice.”

[130:2]  ² tn Heb “may your ears be attentive to the voice of.”

[130:3]  ³ tn Heb “observe.”

[130:3]  ⁴ tn The words “before you” are supplied in the translation for clarification. The psalmist must be referring to standing before God’s judgment seat. The rhetorical question expects the answer, “No one.”

[130:4]  ⁵ tn Or “surely.”

[130:4]  ⁶ tn Heb “for with you [there is] forgiveness.”

[130:4]  ⁷ tn Or “consequently you are.”

[130:4]  ⁸ tn Heb “feared.”
