[145:7]  1 tn Heb “the fame of the greatness of your goodness.”

[145:7]  2 tn The prefixed verbal forms in v. 7 are understood as imperfects, indicating how the psalmist expects his audience to respond to his praise. Another option is to take the forms as jussives, indicating the psalmist’s wish, “may they talk…and sing.”

[27:13]  3 tn In the Hebrew text the sentence is incomplete: “If I had not believed [I would] see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” The words “Where would I be” are supplied in the translation to clarify the intent of the statement.

[119:66]  5 tn Heb “goodness of taste.” Here “taste” refers to moral and ethical discernment.

[119:66]  6 tn Heb “for I believe in your commands.”

[25:7]  7 tn Heb “do not remember,” with the intention of punishing.

[25:7]  8 sn That is, the sins characteristic of youths, who lack moral discretion and wisdom.

[31:19]  15 tn “Taking shelter” in the Lord is an idiom for seeking his protection. Seeking his protection presupposes and even demonstrates the subject’s loyalty to the Lord. In the psalms those who “take shelter” in the Lord are contrasted with the wicked and equated with those who love, fear, and serve the Lord (Pss 2:12; 5:11-12; 34:21-22).

[31:19]  16 tn Heb “you work [your favor] for the ones seeking shelter in you before the sons of men.”
