15:3 He ¹  does not slander, ² 

or do harm to others, ³ 

or insult his neighbor. ⁴

[15:3]  ¹ sn Hebrew literature often assumes and reflects the male-oriented perspective of ancient Israelite society. The principle of the psalm is certainly applicable to all people, regardless of their gender or age.

[15:3]  ² tn Heb “he does not slander upon his tongue.” For another example of רָגַל (ragal, “slander”) see 2 Sam 19:28.

[15:3]  ³ tn Or “his fellow.”

[15:3]  ⁴ tn Heb “and he does not lift up an insult against one who is near to him.”

[75:1]  ⁵ sn Psalm 75. The psalmist celebrates God’s just rule, which guarantees that the godly will be vindicated and the wicked destroyed.

[75:1]  ⁶ tn Heb “do not destroy.” Perhaps this refers to a particular style of music, a tune title, or a musical instrument. These words also appear in the superscription to Pss 57-59.

[75:1]  ⁷ tn Heb “and near [is] your name.”
