[Psa 2:1] O Wherefore Do The Nations Rage?
O wherefore do the nations rage,
And kings and rulers strive in vain,
Against the Lord of earth and Heav’n
To overthrow Messiah’s reign?Their strength is weakness in the sight
Of Him Who sits enthroned above;
He speaks, and judgments fall on them
Who tempt His wrath and scorn His love.By God’s decree His Son receives
The nations for His heritage;
The conqu’ring Christ supreme shall reign
As King of kings, from age to age.Be wise, ye rulers of the earth,
And serve the Lord with godly fear;
With reverent joy confess the Son
While yet in mercy He is near.Delay not, lest His anger rise,
And ye should perish in your way;
Lo, all that put their trust in Him
Are blest indeed, and blest for aye.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 2:1] Wherefore Do The Nations Rage
Wherefore do the nations rage,
And the people vainly dream,
That in triumph they can wage
War against the Lord supreme?
His Anointed they deride,
And the rulers plotting say:
Their dominion be defied,
Let us cast their bonds away.But the Lord will scorn them all,
Calm He sits enthroned on high;
Soon His wrath will on them fall,
Angered then He will reply:
Yet according to My will
I have set My King to reign,
And on Zion’s holy hill
Mine Anointed I maintain.This the word declared to me,
This Jehovah’s firm decree:
Thou art my belovèd Son,
Yea, I have begotten Thee.
Ask and have Thy full demands,
Thine shall all the heathen be,
Thine the utmost of the lands,
They shall be possessed of Thee.Dash them like a potter’s urn,
Thou shalt break them with a rod.
Therefore, kings and judges, learn
Anxiously to serve your God.
Kiss the Son and worship Him,
Lest ye perish in the way;
Blest are all who trust in Him,
Yea, supremely blest are they.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 2:1] Why Did The Gentiles Tumults Raise?
Why did the Gentiles tumults raise?
What rage was in their brain?
Why do the people still contrive
A thing that is but vain?The kings and rulers of the earth
Conspire and are all bent
Against the Lord, and Christ His Son,
Whom He among us sent.Shall we be bound to them? Say they,
Let all Their bonds be broke;
And of Their doctrine and Their law
Let us reject the yoke.But He that in the Heav’n doth dwell,
Their doings will deride;
And make them all as mocking-stocks
Throughout the world so wide.For in His wrath He shall reprove
Their pride and scornful way,
And in His fury trouble them,
And unto them shall say,I have anointed Him My King
Upon My holy hill;
I will therefore, Lord, preach Thy law
According to Thy will:The law whereof the Lord Himself
Hath thus said unto Me,
Thou art My only Son, this day
Have I begotten Thee.The people I will give to Thee,
As heirs at Thy request
The ends and coasts of all the earth
By Thee shall be possessed.Thou shalt them bruise e’en like to those
That under foot are trod,
And as a potter’s vessel break
Them with an iron rod.Now ye, O kings and rulers all,
Be wise therefore and learned,
By who the matters of the world
Are judged and discerned.See that ye serve the Lord above
In trembling and in fear;
See that with reverence ye rejoice
When ye to Him draw near:See that ye do embrace and kiss
His Son without delay;
Lest in His wrath ye suddenly
Perish from the right way.If once His wrath (but little) shall
Be kindled in His breast,
Then only they that trust in Him
Shall happy be and blest.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 2:1] Why Did The Jews Proclaim Their Rage?
Why did the Jews proclaim their rage?
The Romans, why their swords employ?
Against the Lord their powers engage,
His dear Anointed to destroy?“Come, let us break His bands,” they say;
“This Man shall never give us laws”:
And thus they cast His yoke away,
And nail’d the Monarch to the cross.But God, who high in glory reigns,
Laughs at their pride, their rage controls;
He’ll vex their hearts with inward pains,
And speak in thunder to their souls.“I will maintain the King I made
On Zion’s everlasting hill;
My hand shall bring Him from the dead,
And He shall stand your Sov’reign still.”His wondrous rising from the earth
Makes His eternal Godhead known;
The Lord declares His heav’nly birth—
“This day I have begot My Son.“Ascend, My Son, to My right hand,
There Thou shalt ask, and I bestow,
The utmost bounds of heathen lands;
To Thee the northern isles shall bow.”But nations that resist His grace
Shall fall beneath His iron stroke;
His rod shall crush His foes with ease,
As potters’ earthen work is broke.Now, ye that sit on earthly thrones,
Be wise, and serve the Lord, the Lamb;
Now at His feet submit your crowns,
Rejoice and tremble at His Name.With humble love address the Son,
Lest He grow angry, and ye die;
His wrath will burn to worlds unknown,
If ye provoke His jealousy.His storms shall drive you quick to hell;
He is a God, and ye but dust;
Happy the souls that know Him well,
And make His grace their only trust.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 2:1] With Restless And Ungoverned Rage
With restless and ungoverned rage
Why do the heathen storm?
Why in such rash attempts engage,
As they can ne’er perform?The great in counsel and in might
Their various forces bring;
Against the Lord they all unite,
And His anointed King.“Must we submit to their commands?”
Presumptuously they say;
“No, let us break Their slavish bands,
And cast Their chains away.”But God, who sits enthroned on high,
And sees how they combine,
Does their conspiring strength defy,
And mocks their vain design.Thick clouds of wrath divine shall break
On His rebellious foes;
And thus will He in thunder speak
To all that dare oppose:“Though madly you dispute My will,
The King that I ordain,
Whose throne is fixed on Zion’s hill,
Shall there securely reign.”Attend, O earth, whilst I declare
God’s uncontrolled decree;
“Thou art my Son, this day My Heir
Have I begotten Thee.“Ask and receive Thy full demands;
Thine shall the heathen be;
The utmost limits of the lands
Shall be possessed by Thee.Thy threat’ning scepter Thou shalt shake,
And crush them every where;
As massy bars of iron break
The potter’s brittle ware.”Learn then, ye princes, and give ear,
Ye judges of the earth;
Worship the Lord with holy fear;
Rejoice with awful mirth.Appease the Son with due respect,
Your timely homage pay;
Lest He revenge the bold neglect,
Incensed by your delay.If but in part His anger rise,
Who can endure the flame?
Then blest are they whose hope relies
On His most holy Name.Play source: Cyberhymnal

[Psa 4:1] My Prayer
O Father, hear me as I pray to Thee,
I know that I am far from purity;
But Jesus died that sinful men might live,
So in His Name I ask Thee to forgive.Refrain
Father, Father,
Humbly now I come to Thee;
Father, Father,
Hear, oh hear my humble plea.I pray that Thou wilt pardon ev’ry sin;
O Lord, forgive and make me pure within.
Plant a desire for service in my heart
And give me strength to always do my part.Refrain
Tonight, O Father, as the shadows creep
And I so gently close my eyes in sleep,
I pray that Thou wilt guard me through the night
And keep me safe till comes the morning light.Refrain
When morning comes, oh, let me rise to work,
Forbid that duty I should ever shirk;
And when at last my race on earth is run,
Grant, Lord, that I may hear Thee say, “Well done.”Refrain

[Psa 4:1] My Righteous God, Who Oft Of Old
My righteous God, who oft of old
Hast saved from troubles manifold,
Give answer when I call to Thee,
Be gracious now and hear my plea.How long, O men, will ye defame
How long My glory turn to shame,
How long will ye vain follies prize,
How long pursue deceit and lies?But know, the Lord has set apart
The man of godly life and heart
To be His favored one for aye;
Jehovah hears me when I pray.In reverence wait, from sin depart,
In meditation calm your heart;
Hold fast the right, be true and just,
And in Jehovah put your trust.O who will show us any good,
Exclaims the faithless multitude;
But lift on us, O Lord, we pray,
The brightness of Thy face this day.More joy from Thee has filled my heart
Than great abundance could impart;
I lay me down to peaceful sleep,
For Thou, O Lord, dost safely keep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:1] O God Of Grace And Righteousness
O God of grace and righteousness,
Hear and attend when I complain;
Thou hast enlarged me in distress,
Bow down a gracious ear again.Ye sons of men, in vain ye try
To turn my glory into shame;
How long will scoffers love to lie,
And dare reproach my Savior’s Name?Know that the Lord divides His saints
From all the tribes of men beside;
He hears the cry of penitents,
For the dear sake of Christ that died.When our obedient hands have done
A thousand works of righteousness
We put our trust in God alone,
And glory in His pard’ning grace.Let the unthinking many say,
“Who will bestow some earthly good?”
But Lord, Thy light and love we pray;
Our souls desire this heav’nly food.Then shall my cheerful powers rejoice,
At grace and favors so divine;
Nor will I change my happy choice
For all their corn, and all their wine.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:1] When Our Heads Are Bowed With Woe
When our heads are bowed with woe,
When our bitter tears o’erflow,
When we mourn the lost, the dear,
Jesus, Son of Mary, hear!Thou our throbbing flesh hast worn,
Thou our mortal griefs hast borne,
Thou hast shed the human tear,
Jesus, Son of Mary, hear!When the solemn death bell tolls,
For our own departing souls,
When our final doom is near,
Jesus, Son of Mary, hear!Thou hast bowed the dying head,
With the thought of all its sin,
When the spirit shrinks with fear,
Jesus, Son of Mary, hear!When the heart is sad within
With the thought of all its sin,
When the spirit shrinks with fear,
Jesus, Son of Mary, hear.Thou the shame, the grief, hast known,
Though the sins were not Thine own;
Thou hast deigned their load to bear;
Jesus, Son of Mary, hear!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:3] Lord, Thou Wilt Hear Me When I Pray
Lord, Thou wilt hear me when I pray,
I am forever Thine;
I fear before Thee all the day,
Nor would I dare to sin.And while I rest my weary head,
From cares and business free,
’Tis sweet conversing on my bed,
With my own heart and Thee.I pay this evening sacrifice:
And when my work is done,
Great God, my faith and hope relies
Upon Thy grace alone.Thus, with my thoughts composed to peace,
I’ll give mine eyes to sleep;
Thy hand in safety keeps my days,
And will my slumbers keep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:3] On The Good And Faithful
On the good and faithful God has set His love;
When they call He sends them blessings from above.
Stand in awe, and sin not, bid your heart be still;
Through the silent watches think upon His will.Lay upon God’s altar good and loving deeds,
And in all things trust Him to supply your needs.
Anxious and despairing, many walk in night;
But to those that fear Him God will send His light.In God’s love abiding, I have joy and peace
More than all the wicked, though their wealth increase.
In His care confiding, I will sweetly sleep.
For the Lord, my Savior, will in safety keep.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:5] Since All The Downward Tracts Of Time
Since all the downward tracts of time
God’s watchful eye surveys,
O who so wise to choose our lot
Or to appoint our ways?Good when He gives, supremely good,
Nor less when He denies;
E’en crosses from His sovereign hand
Are blessings in disguise.Why should we doubt a Father’s love,
So constant and so kind?
To His unerring, gracious will
Be every wish resigned.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:5] Trust
All that our Savior hath spoken
Came from the heart of God;
Surely it cannot be broken,
Sealed with His precious blood.Refrain
Tempests may rage and thunder,
Mountains be rent asunder,
Nations may fear and wonder—
Trust, and be undismayed.As unto Abram was given
God’s cov’nant word of peace,
“Counting the stars” of the even—
So shall thy faith increase.Refrain
Trust when the light warm and tender
Seemeth to Thee withdrawn;
Wait a few hours, and in splendor
Morning again will dawn!Refrain
Trust! tho’ all others forsake thee,
Yet there remains one Friend;
Mercy and truth shall o’ertake thee
Down to thy journey’s end.Refrain
Trust under every condition
Till thou shalt reach thy home;
Trust, till in perfect fruition
That which is real hath come.Refrain

[Psa 4:5] What Shall We Offer Our Good Lord?
What shall we offer our good Lord,
Poor nothings! for His boundless grace!
Fain would we His great Name record,
And worthily set forth His praise.Great object of our growing love,
To Whom our more than all we owe,
Open the fountain from above,
And let it our full souls o’erflow.So shall our lives Thy power proclaim,
Thy grace for every sinner free;
Till all mankind shall learn Thy Name,
Shall all stretch out their hands to Thee.Open a door which earth and hell
May strive to shut, but strive in vain;
Let Thy Word richly in us dwell,
And let our gracious fruit remain.O multiply the sower’s seed!
And fruit we every hour shall bear,
Throughout the world Thy Gospel spread,
Thy everlasting truth declare.We all, in perfect love renewed,
Shall know the greatness of Thy power;
Stand in the temple of our God,
As pillars, and go out no more.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:7] Holy Spirit, Source Of Gladness
Holy Spirit, source of gladness,
Come with all Thy radiance bright;
O’er our weariness and sadness
Breathe Thy life and shed Thy light!
Send us Thine illumination,
Banish all our fears at length;
Rest upon this congregation,
Spirit of unfailing strength.Let that love which knows no measure,
Now in quickening showers descend,
Bringing us the richest treasures
Man can wish or God can send;
Hear our earnest supplication,
Every struggling heart release;
Rest upon this congregation,
Spirit of untroubled peace!Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:8] Through The Day Thy Love Has Spared Us
Through the day Thy love has spared us;
Now we lay us down to rest;
Through the silent watches guard us,
Let no foe our peace molest;
Jesus, Thou our Guardian be;
Sweet it is to trust in Thee.Pilgrims here on earth, and strangers,
Dwelling in the midst of foes;
Us and ours preserve from dangers;
In Thine arms may we repose.
And, when life’s sad day is past,
Rest with Thee in Heav’n at last.Play source: Cyberhymnal -
[Psa 4:8] While Sinks Our Land To Realms Of Night
While sinks our land to realms of night,
And twilight skies grow dim,
We raise again our joyful hearts
Our parting evening hymn.We bless Thee for the warm, rich glow
Of this our hallowed day,
And for the love that year by year
Shines o’er our onward way.And now, O Father, from on high
List to our evening prayer,
Shed o’er our hearts a blissful calm,
And keep us in Thy care.Play source: Cyberhymnal
