24:5 Such godly people are rewarded by the Lord, ¹ 

and vindicated by the God who delivers them. ² 

Psalms 99:4

99:4 The king is strong;

he loves justice. ³ 

You ensure that legal decisions will be made fairly; ⁴ 

you promote justice and equity in Jacob.

[24:5]  ¹ tn Heb “he (the righteous individual described in v. 4) lifts up a blessing from the Lord.” The singular subject is representative here, as v. 6 makes clear. The referent (godly people like the individual in v. 4) has been specified in the translation for clarity. The imperfect verbal form is generalizing; such people are typically rewarded for their deeds.

[24:5]  ² tn “and vindication from the God of his deliverance.”

[99:4]  ³ tn Heb “and strength, a king, justice he loves.” The syntax of the Hebrew text is difficult here. The translation assumes that two affirmations are made about the king, the Lord (see v. 1, and Ps 98:6). The noun עֹז (’oz, “strength”) should probably be revocalized as the adjective עַז (’az, “strong”).
