[33:20]  1 tn Or “our lives.” The suffixed form of נֶפֶשׁ (nefesh, “being, life”) is often equivalent to a pronoun in poetic texts.

[33:20]  2 tn Or “[source of] help.”

[33:20]  3 tn Or “protector.”

[73:16]  4 tn Heb “and [when] I pondered to understand this, troubling it [was] in my eyes.”

[99:3]  7 tn The pronoun refers to the Lord himself (see vv. 5, 9).

[102:27]  10 tn Heb “you [are] he,” or “you [are] the one.” The statement may echo the Lord’s affirmation “I am he” in Isa 41:4; 43:10, 13; 46:10; 48:12. In each of these passages the affirmation emphasizes the fact that the Lord transcends time limitations, the very point being made in Ps 102:27.

[105:7]  13 tn Heb “in all the earth [are] his judgments.”

[115:9]  16 tn Or “[source of] help.”

[115:9]  17 tn Heb “and their shield.”

[130:8]  19 tn Or “redeem.”

[130:8]  20 tn The Hebrew noun עָוֹן (’avon) can refer to sin, the guilt sin produces, or the consequences of sin. Only here is the noun collocated with the verb פָּדָה (padah, “to redeem; to deliver”). The psalmist may refer to forgiveness per se (v. 4), but the emphasis in this context is likely on deliverance from the national consequences of sin. See L. C. Allen, Psalms 101-150 (WBC), 192.
