Psalms 82:7
Context82:7 Yet you will die like mortals; 6
you will fall like all the other rulers.” 7
[37:26] 1 tn The active participles describe characteristic behavior.
[37:26] 2 tn Or “offspring”; Heb “seed.”
[44:24] 3 tn Heb “Why do you hide your face?” The idiom “hide the face” can mean “ignore” (see Pss 10:11; 13:1; 51:9) or carry the stronger idea of “reject” (see Pss 30:7; 88:14).
[44:24] 5 tn Heb “our oppression and our affliction.”
[82:7] 5 tn Heb “men.” The point in the context is mortality, however, not maleness.
[82:7] 6 tn Heb “like one of the rulers.” The comparison does not necessarily imply that they are not rulers. The expression “like one of” can sometimes mean “as one of” (Gen 49:16; Obad 11) or “as any other of” (Judg 16:7, 11).
