• [Psa 69:3] O God, Our Words Cannot Express

  O God, our words cannot express The pain we feel this day. Enraged, uncertain, we confess Our need to bow and pray. We grieve for all who lost their lives… And for each injured one. We pray for children, husbands, wives Whose grief has just begun. O Lord, we’re called to offer prayer For all our leaders, too. May they, amid such great despair, Be wise in all they do. We trust your mercy and your grace; In you we will not fear! May peace and justice now embrace! Be with your people here!

Psalms 77:2-9

• [Psa 77:2] In Time Of Tribulation

  In time of tribulation, hear, Lord, my feeble cries; With humble supplication to Thee my spirit flies; My heart with grief is breaking, scarce can my voice complain; Mine eyes with tears kept waking, still watch and weep in vain. The days of old, in vision, bring banished bliss to view; The years of lost fruition, their joys in pangs renew; Remembered songs of gladness, through nights lone silence brought, Strike notes of deeper sadness, and stir desponding thought. Hath God cast off forever? Can time His truth impair? His tender mercy never shall I presume to share? Hath He His loving kindness shut up in endless wrath? No; this is mine own blindness, that cannot see His path. I call to recollection the years of His right hand; And, strong in His protection, again through faith I stand; Thy deeds, O Lord, are wondrous; holy are all Thy ways; The secret place of thunder shall utter forth Thy praise. Thee, with the tribes assembled, O God, the billows saw; They saw Thee, and they trembled, turned, and stood still with awe; The clouds shot hail and lightning; the earth reeled to and fro; Thy fiery pillar brightened the gulf of gloom below. Thy way is in great waters, Thy footsteps are not known; Let Adam’s sons and daughters confide in Thee alone: Through the wild sea Thou leadest Thy chosen flock of yore; Still on the waves Thou treadest, and Thy redeemed pass o’er.

• [Psa 77:3] To God Will I Direct My Prayer

  To God will I direct my prayer, And He will make my needs His care; I trust Him still, though in my grief No answer yet has brought relief; With hands outstretched through all the night, Uncomforted I sought for light. The thought of God brought me no peace, But rather made my fears increase; With sleepless eyes and speechless pain My fainting spirit grieved in vain; The blessedness of long ago Made deeper still my present woe. Recalling days when faith was bright, When songs of gladness filled my night, I pondered o’er my grievous woes And searching questioning arose; Will God cast off, and nevermore His favor to my soul restore? I asked in fear and bitterness: Will God forsake me in distress? Shall I His promise faithless find? Has God forgotten to be kind? Has He in anger hopelessly Removed His love and grace from me? These doubts and fears that troubled me Were born of my infirmity; Though I am weak, God is most high, And on His goodness I rely; Of all His wonders, I will tell, And on His deeds my thoughts shall dwell.

• [Psa 77:5] I Thought Upon The Days Of Old

  I thought upon the days of old, The years departed long, I held communion with my heart, By night recalled my song. My heart inquired with anxious care, Will God forever spurn? Shall we no more His favor see? Will mercy ne’er return? Forever shall His promise fail? Has God forgotten grace? Has He withdrawn His tender love, In anger hid His face? These doubts are my infirmity, My thoughts at once reply; I call back years of God’s right hand, The years of God Most High. I will commemorate, O Lord, Thy wondrous deeds of old, And meditate upon Thy works Of power and grace untold. O God, most holy is Thy way, Most perfect, good and right; Thou art the only living God, The God of wondrous might.

• [Psa 77:6] My Song In The Night

  When out on life’s ocean, the waves dashing high, While waters are troubled, and no help is nigh, I’ll sing Ebenezer and watch for the light, “And call to remembrance my song in the night.” Refrain “My song in the night, my song in the night; I call to remembrance my song in the night.” God’s promise is sure, and we’re safe in His care, He’ll help all His children their burdens to bear; To Him let us look to be kept in the right, “And call to remembrance our song in the night.” Refrain The blood of the Savior will cleanse every one; O sinner, He’ll save you if only you’ll come; Accept of His mercy, your way will be bright, Then sing with the saved ones your “song in the night.” Refrain The home over there will be soon our abode, Tho’ straight is the way oftentimes rough the road; But Jesus our Guide is the Way and the Light, I call to remembrance my song in the night. • [Psa 88:9] Father, I Stretch My Hands To Thee

  Father, I stretch my hands to Thee, No other help I know; If Thou withdraw Thyself from me, Ah! whither shall I go? What did Thine only Son endure, Before I drew my breath! What pain, what labor, to secure My soul from endless death! O Jesus, could I this believe, I now should feel Thy power; Now my poor soul Thou wouldst retrieve, Nor let me wait one hour. Surely Thou canst not let me die; O speak, and I shall live; And here I will unwearied lie, Till Thou Thy Spirit give. Author of faith! to Thee I lift My weary, longing eyes: O let me now receive that gift! My soul without it dies. The worst of sinners would rejoice, Could they but see Thy face: O, let me hear Thy quickening voice, And taste Thy pardoning grace.
