[48:13]  1 tn Heb “set your heart to its rampart.”

[48:13]  2 tn The precise meaning of the Hebrew word translated “walk through,” which occurs only here in the OT, is uncertain. Cf. NEB “pass…in review”; NIV “view.”

[48:13]  3 sn The city’s towers, defenses, and fortresses are outward reminders and tangible symbols of the divine protection the city enjoys.

[78:4]  4 tn The pronominal suffix refers back to the “fathers” (“our ancestors,” v. 3).

[78:4]  5 tn Heb “to a following generation telling the praises of the Lord.” “Praises” stand by metonymy for the mighty acts that prompt worship. Cf. Ps 9:14.

[78:6]  7 tn Heb “in order that they might know, a following generation, sons [who] will be born, they will arise and will tell to their sons.”

[102:18]  10 tn The Hebrew text has simply “this,” referring to the anticipated divine intervention on behalf of Zion (vv. 13, 16-17). The referent has been specified in the translation for clarity.
