Psalms 79:10

79:10 Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”

Before our very eyes may the shed blood of your servants

be avenged among the nations! ¹ 

Psalms 82:8

82:8 Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth!

For you own ²  all the nations.

Psalms 106:47

106:47 Deliver us, O Lord, our God!

Gather us from among the nations!

Then we will give thanks ³  to your holy name,

and boast about your praiseworthy deeds. ⁴ 

[79:10]  ¹ tn Heb “may it be known among the nations, to our eyes, the vengeance of the shed blood of your servants.”

[82:8]  ² tn The translation assumes that the Qal of נָחַל (nakhal) here means “to own; to possess,” and that the imperfect emphasizes a general truth. Another option is to translate the verb as future, “for you will take possession of all the nations” (cf. NIV “all the nations are your inheritance”).

[106:47]  ³ tn Heb “to give thanks.” The infinitive construct indicates result after the imperative.

[106:47]  ⁴ tn Heb “to boast in your praise.”
