102:7 I stay awake; ² 

I am like a solitary bird on a roof.

Psalms 104:17

104:17 where the birds make nests,

near the evergreens in which the herons live. ³

[102:7]  ² tn This probably refers to the psalmist’s inability to sleep. Another option is to translate, “I keep watch,” in which case it might refer to watching for a response from the Lord (see vv. 1-2).

[104:17]  ³ tn Heb “[the] heron [in the] evergreens [is] its home.”
