[86:8]  1 tn Heb “and there are none like your acts.”

[32:31]  2 tn Heb “their,” but the referent (enemies) is specified in the translation for the sake of clarity.

[32:39]  3 tn Verses 39-42 appear to be a quotation of the Lord and so the introductory phrase “says the Lord” is supplied in the translation for clarity.

[32:39]  4 tn Heb “deliver from” (so NRSV, NLT).

[22:1]  5 tn Heb “you must not see,” but, if translated literally into English, the statement is misleading.

[22:1]  6 tn Heb “brother’s” (also later in this verse). In this context it is not limited to one’s siblings, however; cf. NAB “your kinsman’s.”

[22:1]  7 tn Heb “hide yourself.”

[22:1]  8 tn The Hebrew text uses the infinitive absolute for emphasis, which the translation indicates with the words “without fail.”

[45:5]  9 tn Heb “and there is none besides.” On the use of עוֹד (’od) here, see BDB 729 s.v. 1.c.

[45:5]  10 tn Heb “gird you” (so NASB) or “strengthen you” (so NIV).

[45:5]  11 tn Or “know” (NAB, NCV, NRSV, TEV, CEV, NLT); NIV “have not acknowledged.”

[45:21]  12 tn Heb “Declare! Bring near!”; NASB “Declare and set forth your case.” See 41:21.

[45:21]  13 tn Or “a righteous God and deliverer”; NASB, NIV, NRSV “a righteous God and a Savior.”

[45:22]  14 tn The Niphal imperative with prefixed vav (ו) indicates purpose after the preceding imperative. The Niphal probably has a tolerative sense, “allow yourselves to be delivered, accept help.”
