• [Psa 3:1] My God, How Many Are My Fears

  My God, how many are my fears! How fast my foes increase! Conspiring my eternal death, They break my present peace. The lying tempter would persuade There’s no relief in Heav’n; And all my swelling sins appear Too big to be forgiv’n. But Thou, my glory and my strength, Shalt on the tempter tread, Shalt silence all my threatening guilt, And raise my drooping head. I cried, and from His holy hill He bowed a listening ear; I called my Father, and my God, And He subdued my fear. He shed soft slumbers on mine eyes, In spite of all my foes; I woke, and wondered at the grace That guarded my repose. What though the hosts of death and hell All armed against me stood, Terrors no more shall shake my soul; My refuge is my God. Arise, O Lord, fulfill Thy grace, While I Thy glory sing; My God has broke the serpent’s teeth, And death has lost his sting. Salvation to the Lord belongs; His arm alone can save; Blessings attend Thy people here, And reach beyond the grave.

  O Lord, how are my foes increased! Against me many rise; How many say, in vain for help He on his God relies. Thou art my Shield and Glory, Lord, My Savior, O Most High, The Lord from out His holy hill Gives answer when I cry. I laid me down and slept, I waked, Because the Lord sustains; Though many thousands compass me, Unmoved my soul remains. Arise, O Lord; save me, my God; For Thou hast owned my cause; And oft hast beaten down my foes Who scorn Thy righteous laws. Salvation to the Lord belongs, In Him His saints are blest; O let Thy blessing evermore Upon Thy people rest.

  O Lord, how many they Who deeply trouble me; How greatly are they multiplied Who do me injury. There is no help for him, No help in God, they say; Thou art my Shield and Glory, Lord, Thou art my certain Stay. I called to God, He heard From out His holy hill. I fell asleep, I woke in peace, For He sustained me still. Arise and save, O Lord, For Thou didst smite my foe. Salvation cometh from the Lord; His saints His blessings know.

Haggai 2:6-7

• [Hag 2:6] As In The Days Of Haggai When

  As in the days of Haggai when The Hebrews hewed from stone Jehovah’s temple, built again To serve their God alone, So too our hearts can be remade, From stone to flesh—the heav’nly blade Carves out an earthly home. The temple of Zerubabel, Like that of Solomon Sustained attack, gave way, and fell To rise and fall again. But when God’s Temple died and rose He kept the promise giv’n to those Who built the temple then. God shook the earth and Gentiles then Brought treasure to His store, But heaven and earth will shake again When our King comes once more. Then all that can be shaken will Be purged and dross removed until He clears His threshing floor.

  Come, Thou Desire of all Thy saints! Our humble strains attend, While with our praises and complaints, Low at Thy feet we bend. How should our songs, like those above, With warm devotion rise! How should our souls, on wings of love, Mount upward to the skies! Come Lord! Thy love alone can raise In us the heavenly flame; Then shall our lips resound Thy praise Our hearts adore Thy Name. Dear Savior, let Thy glory shine, And fill Thy dwellings here, Till life, and love, and joy divine A Heaven on earth appear. Then shall our hearts enraptured say, Come, great Redeemer! come, And bring the bright, the glorious day, That calls Thy children home.

  Desire of every nation, Light of the Gentiles, Thou! In fervent adoration Before Thy throne we bow; Our hearts and tongues adore Thee, Blest Dayspring from the skies. Like incense sweet before Thee, Permit our songs to rise. Thou Herald of the morning, They who in darkness dwell Behold Thy brightness dawning O’er realms of Israel. With glorious beams unclouded, Thy all-transcendent light Dispels the gloom that shrouded Earth’s dark and dismal night. Arise and shine in splendor, Thou bright and morning Star! The Gentiles come to render Their gifts from realms afar. The word by prophets spoken In truth is now fulfilled. And yearning hearts, once broken, With sweetest hope are filled. Arise and bring salvation To all who dwell below, Let earth in jubilation Reflect Thy radiant glow. O long expected Savior, Thou Hope of Israel, Let Gentiles gain Thy favor, And of Thy glory tell. Our Life and Resurrection, Lord Jesus Christ, Thou art; O shed Thy light’s reflection To earth’s remotest part; Let Gentile tongues confess Thee, Rejoicing in Thy light, The ransomed thousands bless Thee, Thou hast dispelled the night.
