10:1 Then 1  I saw another powerful angel descending from heaven, wrapped 2  in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun and his legs were like pillars of fire. 3

3:12 The one who conquers 4  I will make 5  a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will never depart from it. I 6  will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God (the new Jerusalem that comes down out of heaven from my God), 7  and my new name as well.

[10:1]  1 tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the implied sequence of events within the vision.

[10:1]  2 tn Or “clothed.”

[10:1]  3 tn Or “like fiery pillars,” translating πυρός (puros) as an attributive genitive.

[3:12]  4 tn Or “who is victorious”; traditionally, “who overcomes.”

[3:12]  5 tn Grk “I will make him,” but the pronoun (αὐτόν, auton, “him”) is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated here.
