Revelation 15:8
Context15:8 and the temple was filled with smoke from God’s glory and from his power. Thus 1 no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues from the seven angels were completed.
Revelation 18:8
Context18:8 For this reason, she will experience her plagues 2 in a single day: disease, 3 mourning, 4 and famine, and she will be burned down 5 with fire, because the Lord God who judges her is powerful!”

[15:8] 1 tn Grk “power, and no one.” A new sentence was started here in the translation. Here καί (kai) has been translated as “thus” to indicate the implied result of the temple being filled with smoke.
[18:8] 2 tn Grk “For this reason, her plagues will come.”
[18:8] 3 tn Grk “death.” θάνατος (qanatos) can in particular contexts refer to a manner of death, specifically a contagious disease (see BDAG 443 s.v. 3; L&N 23.158).
[18:8] 4 tn This is the same Greek word (πένθος, penqo") translated “grief” in vv. 7-8.
[18:8] 5 tn Here “burned down” was used to translate κατακαυθήσεται (katakauqhsetai) because a city is in view.
