22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega,

the first and the last,

the beginning and the end!) ¹

[22:13]  ¹ sn These lines are parenthetical, forming an aside to the narrative. The speaker here is the Lord Jesus Christ himself rather than the narrator.

[2:26]  ² tn Or “who is victorious”; traditionally, “who overcomes.”

[2:26]  ³ tn Grk “keeps.” In a context that speaks of “holding on to what you have,” the idea here is one of continued faithful behavior (BDAG 1002 s.v. τηρέω 3 has “ὁ τηρῶν τὰ ἔργα μου the one who takes my deeds to heart Rv 2:26”).

[2:26]  ⁴ tn Or “over the Gentiles” (the same Greek word may be translated “Gentiles” or “nations”).

[21:6]  ³ tn Or “It has happened.”

[21:6]  ⁴ tn The word “water” is not in the Greek text, but is implied. Direct objects were frequently omitted in Greek when clear from the context.
