6:10 They 1  cried out with a loud voice, 2  “How long, 3  Sovereign Master, 4  holy and true, before you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?”

The Lord Takes Delight in Zion

62:1 “For the sake of Zion I will not be silent;

for the sake of Jerusalem 5  I will not be quiet,

until her vindication shines brightly 6 

and her deliverance burns like a torch.”

Context

62:6 I 7  post watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;

they should keep praying all day and all night. 8 

You who pray to 9  the Lord, don’t be silent!

62:7 Don’t allow him to rest until he reestablishes Jerusalem, 10 

until he makes Jerusalem the pride 11  of the earth.

[6:10]  1 tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[6:10]  2 tn Grk “voice, saying”; the participle λέγοντες (legontes) is redundant in contemporary English and has not been translated here.

[6:10]  3 tn The expression ἕως πότε (ews pote) was translated “how long.” Cf. BDAG 423 s.v. ἕως 1.b.γ.

[6:10]  4 tn The Greek term here is δεσπότης (despoths; see L&N 37.63).
