Conduct in Humility

12:3 For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you ¹  a measure of faith. ² 

Romans 14:6

14:6 The one who observes the day does it for the Lord. The ³  one who eats, eats for the Lord because he gives thanks to God, and the one who abstains from eating abstains for the Lord, and he gives thanks to God.

Romans 8:5

8:5 For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by ⁴  the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

Romans 11:20

11:20 Granted! ⁵  They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear!

[12:3]  ² tn Or “to each as God has distributed a measure of faith.”

[14:6]  ³ tn Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[8:5]  ⁵ tn Grk “think on” or “are intent on” (twice in this verse). What is in view here is not primarily preoccupation, however, but worldview. Translations like “set their mind on” could be misunderstood by the typical English reader to refer exclusively to preoccupation.

[11:20]  ⁷ tn Grk “well!”, an adverb used to affirm a statement. It means “very well,” “you are correct.”
