  God says whosoever believes on His Son, Has pardon obtained and a new life begun; His sins blotted out, not by aught he has done, But thro’ faith in the Word of God! Refrain His Word is a strong eternal rock, Unshaken it stands thro’ fiercest shock; Though Satan and all his hosts may mock, I have faith in the Word of God! And God will make righteous and cleanse from all sin The one who the chiefest of sinners has been; He sanctifies wholly and justifies him Who has faith in the Word of God! Psalms 143:2

• [Psa 143:2] O Lord, Turn Not Thy Face From Me

  O Lord, turn not Thy face from me, Who lie in woeful state, Lamenting all my sinful life Before Thy mercy-gate. A gate which opens wide to those That do lament their sin; Shut not that gate against me, Lord, But let me enter in. And call me not to strict account How I have sojourned here; For then my guilty conscience knows How vile I shall appear. So come I to Thy mercy gate, Where mercy doth abound, Requiring mercy for my sin To heal my deadly wound. Mercy, good Lord, mercy I ask; This is my humble prayer; For mercy, Lord is all my suit, O let Thy mercy spare.

• [Psa 143:2] That Fearful Day

  That fearful day, that day of speechless dread, When Thou shalt come to judge the quick and dead— I shudder to foresee, O God! what then shall be! When Thou shalt come, angelic legions round, With thousand thousands, and with trumpet sound, Christ, grant me in the air With saints to meet Thee there! Weep, O my soul, ere that great hour and day, When God shall shine in manifest array, Thy sin, that thou may’st be In that strict judgment free! The terror! Hell-fire fierce and unsufficed: The bitter worm: the gnashing teeth—O Christ, Forgive, remit, protect; And set me with the elect! That I may hear the blessèd voice that calls The righteous to the joy of heavenly halls. And, King of Heaven, may reach The realm that passeth speech! Enter Thou not in judgment with each deed, Nor each intent and thought in strictness read: Forgive, and save me then, O Thou That lovest men! Thee, One in Three blest Persons! Lord o’er all! Essence of essence, Power of power we call: Save us, O Father, Son, And Spirit, ever one!

Galatians 2:16

• [Gal 2:16] If Thy Belovèd Son, O God

  If Thy belovèd Son, O God, Had not to earth descended, And in our mortal flesh and blood Had not sin’s power ended, Then this poor, wretched soul of mine In hell eternally would pine Because of its transgression. But now I find sweet peace and rest, Despair no more reigns o’er me; No more am I by sin oppressed, For Christ has borne sin for me. Upon the cross for me He died That, reconciled, I might abide With Thee, my God, forever. I trust in Him with all my heart; Now all my sorrow ceases; His words abiding peace impart, His blood from guilt releases. Free grace through Him I now obtain; He washes me from every stain, And pure I stand before Him. All righteousness by works is vain, The Law brings condemnation; True righteousness by faith I gain, Christ’s work is my salvation. His death, that perfect sacrifice, Has paid the all-sufficient price; In Him my hope is anchored. My guilt, O Father, Thou hast laid On Christ, Thy Son, my Savior. Lord Jesus, Thou my debt hast paid And gained for me God’s favor. O Holy Ghost, Thou Fount of grace, The good in me to Thee I trace; In faith do Thou preserve me.
