Romans 4:7

• [Rom 4:7] Lord, How Secure And Blest Are They

  Lord, how secure and blest are they Who feel the joys of pardoned sin! Should storms of wrath shake earth and sea, Their minds have Heav’n and peace within. The day glides sweetly o’er their heads, Made up of innocence and love; And soft and silent as the shades Their nightly minutes gently move. Quick as their thoughts their joys come on, But fly not half so swift away; Their souls are ever bright as noon, And calm as summer evenings be. How oft they look to th’ heav’nly hills, Where groves of living pleasure grow! And longing hopes and cheerful smiles Sit undisturbed upon their brow. They scorn to seek our golden toys, But spend the day and share the night In numbering o’er the richer joys That Heav’n prepares for their delight. While wretched we, like worms and moles, Lie grov’ling in the dust below, Almighty grace, renew our souls, And we’ll aspire to glory, too.

  Look upon Jesus, sinless is He; Father, impute His life unto me. My life of scarlet, my sin and woe, Cover with His life, whiter than snow. Romans 11:33

• [Rom 11:33] Lord, My Weak Thought In Vain Would Climb

  Lord, my weak thought in vain would climb To search the starry vault profound; In vain would wing her flight sublime To find creation’s utmost bound. But weaker yet that thought must prove To search Thy great eternal plan, Thy sovereign counsels, born of love Long ages ere the world began. When my dim reason would demand Why that, or this, Thou dost ordain, By some vast deep I seem to stand, Whose secrets I must ask in vain. When doubts disturb my troubled breast, And all is dark as night to me, Here, as on solid rock, I rest— That so it seemeth good to Thee. Be this my joy, that evermore Thou rulest all things at Thy will; Thy sovereign wisdom I adore, And calmly, sweetly, trust Thee still.

  Thou, the great, eternal God, Art high above our thought! Worthy to be feared, adored, By all Thy hands have wrought: None can with Thyself compare; Thy glory fills both earth and sky; We, and all thy creatures, are As nothing in Thine eyes. Of Thy great unbounded power To Thee the praise we give, Infinitely great, and more Than heart can e’er conceive: When Thou wilt to work proceed, Thy purpose firm none can withstand, Frustrate the determined deed, Or stay the almighty hand. Thou, our God, art wise alone; Thy counsel doth excel; Wonderful Thy works we own, Thy ways unsearchable; Who can sound the mystery, Thy judgments’ deep abyss explain, Thine, whose eyes in darkness see, And search the heart of man?

Romans 13:1

• [Rom 13:1] Christ, By Heavenly Hosts Adored

  Christ, by heav’nly hosts adored, Gracious, mighty, sovereign Lord, God of nations, King of kings, Head of all created things, By the Church with joy confessed, God o’er all, forever blessed. Pleading at Thy throne we stand, Save Thy people, bless our land. On our fields of grass and grain Send, O Lord, the kindly rain; O’er our wide and goodly land Crown the labors of each hand. Let Thy kind protection be O’er our commerce on the sea. Open, Lord, Thy bounteous hand; Bless Thy people, bless our land. Let our rulers ever be Men that love and honor Thee; Let the powers by Thee ordained Be in righteousness maintained. In the people’s hearts increase Love of piety and peace. Thus united, may we stand One wide, free, and happy land.
