Ruth 1:14

1:14

Orpah <06204> [Orpah.]

Ruth <07327> [but Ruth.]

The LXX. add, [kai epestrepsen eis ton laon autes,] "and returned to her own people." The Vulgate, Syriac, and Arabic are to the same purpose. It seems a very natural addition, and agrees with the assertion in the next verse; and is accordingly adopted by Houbigant as a part of the text.

Ruth 2:23

2:23

Ruth 2:8

2:8

dear <01323> [my daughter.]

beyond <05674> [neither.]

limits <01692> [abide.]

Ruth 2:21

2:21

gathering <01692> [Thou shalt.]

The word {hann‰ƒrim} should be translated the servants; both male and female being included in it, the latter especially: see ver. 8, 22, 23.
