The Song of Songs 6:5-7

Context

6:5 Turn your eyes away from me –

they overwhelm 1  me!

Your hair is like a flock of goats

descending from Mount Gilead.

6:6 Your teeth are like a flock of sheep

coming up from the washing;

each has its twin;

not one of them is missing.

6:7 Like a slice of pomegranate

is your forehead 2  behind your veil.

[6:5]  1 tn The verb רָהַב (rahav) should be nuanced “overwhelm” or “arouse” rather than “storm against,” “make proud,” “confuse,” “dazzle,” or “overcome” (BDB 923 s.v. רָהַב).

[6:7]  2 tn Alternately, “your cheeks” or “your temple.” See 4:3.
