Fearing the Lord ¹  is the beginning ²  of moral knowledge, ³  but ⁴  fools ⁵  despise ⁶  wisdom and instruction. ⁷ 

Fearing the Lord ¹  prolongs life, ²  but the life span ³  of the wicked will be shortened. ⁴ 

Through loyal love and truth ¹  iniquity is appeased; ²  through fearing the Lord ³  one avoids ⁴  evil. ⁵ 

The reward ¹  for humility ²  and fearing the Lord ³  is riches and honor and life.

So he was addressing ¹  the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles ²  in the synagogue, ³  and in the marketplace every day ⁴  those who happened to be there.

By faith he left Egypt without fearing the king’s anger, for he persevered as though he could see the one who is invisible.

Some of them were persuaded ¹  and joined Paul and Silas, along with a large group ²  of God-fearing Greeks ³  and quite a few ⁴  prominent women.

Do not let your heart envy ¹  sinners, but rather be zealous in fearing the Lord ²  all the time.

Slaves, ¹  obey your earthly ²  masters in every respect, not only when they are watching – like those who are strictly people-pleasers – but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.

He ¹  was a devout, God-fearing man, ²  as was all his household; he did many acts of charity for the people ³  and prayed to God regularly.

After the crew ¹  had hoisted it aboard, ²  they used supports ³  to undergird the ship. Fearing they would run aground ⁴  on the Syrtis, ⁵  they lowered the sea anchor, ⁶  thus letting themselves be driven along.

Fearing the Lord ¹  leads ²  to life, ³  and one who does so will live ⁴  satisfied; he will not be afflicted ⁵  by calamity.

They said, “Cornelius the centurion, ¹  a righteous ²  and God-fearing man, well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, ³  was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear a message ⁴  from you.”

When the meeting of the synagogue ¹  had broken up, ²  many of the Jews and God-fearing proselytes ³  followed Paul and Barnabas, who were speaking with them and were persuading ⁴  them ⁵  to continue ⁶  in the grace of God.

But the Jews incited ¹  the God-fearing women of high social standing and the prominent men of the city, stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and threw them out ²  of their region.

But you choose ¹  from the people capable men, ²  God-fearing, ³  men of truth, ⁴  those who hate bribes, ⁵  and put them over the people ⁶  as rulers ⁷  of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

Even though a sinner might commit a hundred crimes ¹  and still live a long time, ²  yet I know that it will go well with God-fearing people ³  – for they stand in fear ⁴  before him.

A ¹  woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth ²  from the city of Thyatira, ³  a God-fearing woman, listened to us. ⁴  The Lord opened her heart to respond ⁵  to what Paul was saying.

Because they were afraid ¹  that we would run aground on the rocky coast, ²  they threw out ³  four anchors from the stern and wished ⁴  for day to appear. ⁵ 

Now there were devout Jews ¹  from every nation under heaven residing in Jerusalem. ²
