Yes indeed, the man who fears the Lord will be blessed in this way. ¹ 

I sought the Lord’s help ¹  and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Charm is deceitful ¹  and beauty is fleeting, ²  but a woman who fears the Lord ³  will be praised.

What the wicked fears ¹  will come on him; what the righteous desire ²  will be granted. ³ 

Then Satan answered the Lord, “Is it for nothing that Job fears God? ¹ 

but in every nation ¹  the person who fears him ²  and does what is right ³  is welcomed before him.

For even when we came into Macedonia, our body ¹  had no rest at all, but we were troubled in every way – struggles from the outside, fears from within.

The one who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, ¹  but the one who is perverted in his ways ²  despises him.

It is best to take hold of one warning ¹  without letting go of the other warning; ²  for the one who fears God will follow ³  both warnings. ⁴ 

Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys ¹  his servant? Whoever walks in deep darkness, ²  without light, should trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.

So the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered ¹  my servant Job? There ²  is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away ³  from evil.”

There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. ¹  The ²  one who fears punishment ³  has not been perfected in love.

Abraham replied, “Because I thought, ¹  ‘Surely no one fears God in this place. They will kill me because of ²  my wife.’

Solomon was told, “Look, Adonijah fears you; ¹  see, he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying, ‘May King Solomon solemnly promise ²  me today that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds firmly ¹  to his integrity, ²  so that ³  you stirred me up to destroy him ⁴  without reason.” ⁵ 

If the God of my father – the God of Abraham, the one whom Isaac fears ¹  – had not been with me, you would certainly have sent me away empty-handed! But God saw how I was oppressed and how hard I worked, ²  and he rebuked you last night.”

The Lord shows his faithful followers the way they should live. ¹ 

Praise the Lord! How blessed is the one ²  who obeys ³  the Lord, who takes great delight in keeping his commands. ⁴ 

A song of ascents. ²  How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers, ³  each one who keeps his commands! ⁴ 

Blessed is the one who is always cautious, ¹  but whoever hardens his heart ²  will fall into evil.
