“I am the good ¹  shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life ²  for the sheep.

I will set one shepherd over them, and he will feed them – namely, my servant David. ¹  He will feed them and will be their shepherd.

A psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd, ²  I lack nothing. ³ 

The one who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

They were scattered because they had no shepherd, and they became food for every wild beast. ¹ 

Again the Lord said to me, “Take up once more the equipment of a foolish shepherd. ¹ 

“I am the good shepherd. I ¹  know my own ²  and my own know me –

“Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate,” says the Lord who rules over all. Strike the shepherd that the flock may be scattered; ¹  I will turn my hand against the insignificant ones.

The Lord my God says this: “Shepherd the flock set aside for slaughter.

Then ¹  when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that never fades away.

For you were going astray like sheep ¹  but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

Deliver your people! Empower ¹  the nation that belongs to you! ²  Care for them like a shepherd and carry them in your arms ³  at all times! ⁴ 

He took him away from following the mother sheep, ¹  and made him the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and of Israel, his chosen nation. ² 

The words of the sages are like prods, ¹  and the collected sayings are like firmly fixed nails; they are given by one shepherd.

“‘My servant David will be king over them; there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow ¹  my regulations and carefully observe my statutes. ² 

When ¹  he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, ²  like sheep without a shepherd.

All ¹  the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Like a shepherd he tends his flock; he gathers up the lambs with his arm; he carries them close to his heart; ¹  he leads the ewes along.

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ ² 

But his bow will remain steady, and his hands ¹  will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of ²  the Shepherd, the Rock ³  of Israel,
