But the population ¹  of the city was divided; some ²  sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.

In the same way he made doorposts of olive wood for the entrance to the main hall, only with four-sided pillars. ¹ 

He made doors of olive wood at the entrance to the inner sanctuary; the pillar on each doorpost was five-sided. ¹ 

Now David ¹  had been told, “Ahithophel has sided with the conspirators who are with Absalom. So David prayed, ²  “Make the advice of Ahithophel foolish, O Lord!”

Then the king said to the messengers ¹  who were stationed beside him, “Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, for they too have sided ²  with David! They knew he was fleeing, but they did not inform me.” But the king’s servants refused to harm ³  the priests of the Lord.

They ¹  left their nets immediately and followed him. ² 

The priests and Levites who lived throughout Israel supported him, no matter where they resided. ¹ 

They ¹  immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.

All of the entrances ¹  were rectangular in shape ²  and they were arranged in sets of three. ³ 

Then Peter said ¹  to him, “Look, ²  we have left everything to follow you! ³  What then will there be for us?”

So ¹  when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed ²  him.

and reveal to you the secrets of wisdom – for true wisdom has two sides ¹  – so that you would know ²  that God has forgiven some of your sins. ³ 

The purpose of this enlightenment is that ¹  through the church the multifaceted wisdom ²  of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms.

Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another ¹  as good stewards of the varied grace of God.

As he went along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax booth. ¹  “Follow me,” he said to him. And he got up and followed him.
