Then ¹  he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

So ¹  he called them and spoke to them in parables: ²  “How can Satan cast out Satan?

Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

They brought Jesus ¹  to a place called Golgotha ²  (which is translated, “Place of the Skull”). ³ 

Now ¹  Jesus went up the mountain ²  and called for those he wanted, and they came to him.

Then ¹  they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus ²  said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

So ¹  the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) ²  and called together the whole cohort. ³ 

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So ¹  they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage! Get up! He is calling you.”

Jesus ¹  called the twelve and began to send them out two by two. He gave them authority over the unclean spirits. ² 

In those days there was another large crowd with nothing to eat. So ¹  Jesus ²  called his disciples and said to them,

After he sat down, he called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

He called his disciples and said to them, “I tell you the truth, ¹  this poor widow has put more into the offering box ²  than all the others. ³ 

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He ¹  called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.

Then he began to teach ¹  them and said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? ²  But you have turned it into a den ³  of robbers!” ⁴ 

Then ¹  Jesus ²  called the crowd, along with his disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wants to become my follower, ³  he must deny ⁴  himself, take up his cross, ⁵  and follow me.

Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions use their authority over them.

Then ¹  Jesus’ ²  mother and his brothers ³  came. Standing ⁴  outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.

A man named Barabbas was imprisoned with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection.

Immediately a rooster ¹  crowed a second time. Then ²  Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept. ³ 

Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.” ¹
