The Lord will plague you with deadly diseases ¹  until he has completely removed you from the land you are about to possess.

Indeed, it was the very hand of the Lord that eliminated them from within ¹  the camp until they were all gone.

So it was that after all the military men had been eliminated from the community, ¹ 

But now, why should we die, because this intense fire will consume us! If we keep hearing the voice of the Lord our God we will die!

For a fire has been kindled by my anger, and it burns to lowest Sheol; ¹  it consumes the earth and its produce, and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

They will be starved by famine, eaten by plague, and bitterly stung; ¹  I will send the teeth of wild animals against them, along with the poison of creatures that crawl in the dust.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the Lord had vowed to them.

At that time ¹  my anger will erupt against them ²  and I will abandon them and hide my face from them until they are devoured. Many disasters and distresses will overcome ³  them ⁴  so that they ⁵  will say at that time, ‘Have not these disasters ⁶  overcome us ⁷  because our ⁸  God is not among us ⁹ ?’
