And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness ¹  of Judea proclaiming,

After he fasted forty days and forty nights he was famished. ¹ 

For just as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish ¹  for three days and three nights, ²  so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

Woe ¹  to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days!

For just like the days of Noah ¹  were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

and declared, “This man ¹  said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”

“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be handed over ¹  to be crucified.” ² 

Six days later ¹  Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, ²  and led them privately up a high mountain.

For in those days before the flood, people ¹  were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark.

and saying, “You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! ¹  If you are God’s Son, come down ²  from the cross!”

and said, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

From ¹  the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and forceful people lay hold of it. ² 

And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, ¹  we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’

“Immediately ¹  after the suffering ²  of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken. ³ 

When those hired about five o’clock came, each received a full day’s pay. ¹ 

Jesus said to them, “The wedding guests ¹  cannot mourn while the bridegroom ²  is with them, can they? But the days ³  are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, ⁴  and then they will fast.

Then Jesus called the ¹  disciples and said, “I have compassion on the crowd, because they have already been here with me three days and they have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry since they may faint on the way.”

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem ¹  in Judea, in the time ²  of King Herod, ³  wise men ⁴  from the East came to Jerusalem ⁵ 

How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”
