<p class="bodytext">But you,<n id="1" /> brothers and sisters,<n id="2" /> are children of the promise like Isaac.

<p class="bodytext">Abraham was the father<n id="1" /> of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah,<n id="1" /> the son of Nahor,

nor are all the children Abraham&#8217;s true descendants; rather &#8220;<b><i>through Isaac will your descendants be countedi>b>.&#8221;<n id="1" />

Not only that, but when Rebekah had conceived children by one man,<n id="1" /> our ancestor Isaac &#8211;

God had told him, &#8220;<b><i>Through Isaac descendants will carry on your namei>b>,&#8221;<n id="1" />

By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning the future.

Then God<n id="1" /> gave Abraham<n id="2" /> the covenant<n id="3" /> of circumcision, and so he became the father of Isaac and circumcised him when he was eight days old,<n id="4" /> and Isaac became the father of<n id="5" /> Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.<n id="6" />

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. He had received the promises,<n id="1" /> yet he was ready to offer up<n id="2" /> his only son.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?

I tell you, many will come from the east and west to share the banquet<n id="1" /> with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob<n id="2" /> in the kingdom of heaven,

&#8216;<b><i>I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacobi>b>&#8217;?<n id="1" /> He is not the God of the dead but of the living!&#8221;<n id="2" />

But even Moses revealed that the dead are raised<n id="1" /> in the passage about the bush,<n id="2" /> where he calls the Lord <b><i>the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacobi>b>.<n id="3" />

&#8216;<b><i>I am the God of your forefathers,i>b><n id="1" /> <b><i>the God of Abraham, Isaac,i>b><n id="2" /> <b><i>and Jacobi>b>.&#8217;<n id="3" /> Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look more closely.<n id="4" />

By faith he lived as a foreigner<n id="1" /> in the promised land as though it were a foreign country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who were fellow heirs<n id="2" /> of the same promise.

Now as for the dead being raised,<n id="1" /> have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush,<n id="2" /> how God said to him, &#8216;<b><i>I am the God of Abraham, thei>b><n id="3" /> <b><i>God of Isaac, and the God of Jacobi>b>&#8217;?<n id="4" />

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth<n id="1" /> when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,<n id="2" /> and all the prophets in the kingdom of God<n id="3" /> but you yourselves thrown out.<n id="4" />

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,<n id="1" /> the God of our forefathers,<n id="2" /> has glorified<n id="3" /> his servant<n id="4" /> Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected<n id="5" /> in the presence of Pilate after he had decided<n id="6" /> to release him.
