He had James, the brother of John, executed with a sword.<n id="1" />

Peter looked directly<n id="1" /> at him (as did John) and said, &#8220;Look at us!&#8221;

Barnabas wanted to bring John called Mark along with them too,

So Paul<n id="1" /> said, &#8220;Into what then were you baptized?&#8221; &#8220;Into John&#8217;s baptism,&#8221; they replied.<n id="2" />

For<n id="1" /> John baptized with water, but you<n id="2" /> will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.&#8221;p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time<n id="1" /> for prayer,<n id="2" /> at three o&#8217;clock in the afternoon.<n id="3" />

When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts,<n id="1" /> he asked them for money.<n id="2" />

Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and others who were members of the high priest&#8217;s family.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">So Barnabas and Saul returned to<n id="1" /> Jerusalem<n id="2" /> when they had completed<n id="3" /> their mission,<n id="4" /> bringing along with them John Mark.<n id="5" />p>

Before<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> arrived, John<n id="3" /> had proclaimed a baptism for repentance<n id="4" /> to all the people of Israel.

beginning from his baptism by John until the day he<n id="1" /> was taken up from us &#8211; one of these must become a witness of his resurrection together with us.&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">While the man<n id="1" /> was hanging on to Peter and John, all the people, completely astounded, ran together to them in the covered walkway<n id="2" /> called Solomon&#8217;s Portico.<n id="3" />

But Peter and John replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Whether it is right before God to obey<n id="2" /> you rather than God, you decide,

<p class="bodytext">Now when the apostles in Jerusalem<n id="1" /> heard that Samaria had accepted the word<n id="2" /> of God, they sent<n id="3" /> Peter and John to them.

you know what happened throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John announced:<n id="1" />

And I remembered the word of the Lord,<n id="1" /> as he used to say,<n id="2" /> &#8216;John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.&#8217;<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">When Peter<n id="1" /> realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark,<n id="2" /> where many people had gathered together and were praying.

When<n id="1" /> they arrived<n id="2" /> in Salamis,<n id="3" /> they began to proclaim<n id="4" /> the word of God in the Jewish synagogues.<n id="5" /> (Now they also had John<n id="6" /> as their assistant.)<n id="7" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Paul and his companions put out to sea<n id="1" /> from Paphos<n id="2" /> and came to Perga<n id="3" /> in Pamphylia,<n id="4" /> but John<n id="5" /> left them and returned to Jerusalem.<n id="6" />

When<n id="1" /> they had entered Jerusalem,<n id="2" /> they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. Peter<n id="3" /> and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James were there.<n id="4" />
