For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

Let each one remain in that situation in life<n id="1" /> in which he was called.

<t /><p class="bodytext">I, therefore, the prisoner for the Lord,<n id="1" /> urge you to live<n id="2" /> worthily of the calling with which you have been called,<n id="3" />

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you too were called to the one hope of your calling,

with this goal in mind,<n id="1" /> I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God<n id="2" /> in Christ Jesus.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Therefore, holy brothers and sisters,<n id="1" /> partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Think about the circumstances of your call,<n id="1" /> brothers and sisters.<n id="2" /> Not many were wise by human standards,<n id="3" /> not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position.<n id="4" />

Therefore, brothers and sisters,<n id="1" /> make every effort to be sure of your calling and election.<n id="2" /> For by doing this<n id="3" /> you will never<n id="4" /> stumble into sin.<n id="5" />

&#8211; since the eyes of your<n id="1" /> heart have been enlightened<n id="2" /> &#8211; so that you may know what is the hope of his calling,<n id="3" /> what is the wealth of his glorious<n id="4" /> inheritance in the saints,

And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of his calling<n id="1" /> and fulfill by his power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith,

He is the one who saved us<n id="1" /> and called us with a holy calling, not based on<n id="2" /> our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,<n id="3" />
