The<n id="1" /> greatest among you will be your servant.

I tell you, among those born of women no one is greater<n id="1" /> than John.<n id="2" /> Yet the one who is least<n id="3" /> in the kingdom of God<n id="4" /> is greater than he is.&#8221;

I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> the slave<n id="2" /> is not greater than his master, nor is the one who is sent as a messenger<n id="3" /> greater than the one who sent him.

But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now an argument started among the disciples<n id="1" /> as to which of them might be<n id="2" /> the greatest.

<p class="bodytext">A dispute also started<n id="1" /> among them over which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.<n id="2" />

<n id="1" /> it was said to her, &#8220;<b><i>The older will serve the youngeri>b>,&#8221;<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;I tell you the truth,<n id="1" /> among those born of women, no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least<n id="2" /> in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is.

Blind fools! Which is greater, the gold or the temple that makes the gold sacred?

The second is: &#8216;<b><i>Love your neighbor as yourselfi>b>.&#8217;<n id="1" /> There is no other commandment greater than these.&#8221;

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying, &#8220;Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?&#8221;

Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Not so with you;<n id="1" /> instead the one who is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader<n id="2" /> like the one who serves.<n id="3" />

For who is greater, the one who is seated at the table,<n id="1" /> or the one who serves? Is it not<n id="2" /> the one who is seated at the table? But I am among you as one<n id="3" /> who serves.p>

You aren&#8217;t greater than our father Abraham who died, are you?<n id="1" /> And the prophets died too! Who do you claim to be?&#8221;

that<n id="1" /> if our conscience condemns<n id="2" /> us, that<n id="3" /> God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.

<p class="bodytext">You are from God, little children, and have conquered them,<n id="1" /> because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Surely you&#8217;re not greater than our ancestor<n id="1" /> Jacob, are you? For he gave us this well and drank from it himself, along with his sons and his livestock.&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

You heard me say to you,<n id="1" /> &#8216;I am going away and I am coming back to you.&#8217; If you loved me, you would be glad<n id="2" /> that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.<n id="3" />
