One of Jesus&#8217; disciples,<n id="1" /> Andrew, Simon Peter&#8217;s brother, said to him,

Simon Peter answered him, &#8220;Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot,<n id="1" /> for Judas,<n id="2" /> one of the twelve, was going to betray him.)<n id="3" />p>

The evening meal<n id="1" /> was in progress, and the devil had already put into the heart<n id="2" /> of Judas Iscariot, Simon&#8217;s son, that he should betray<n id="3" /> Jesus.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Then he came to Simon Peter. Peter<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Lord, are you going to wash<n id="2" /> my feet?&#8221;

Simon Peter said to him, &#8220;Lord, wash<n id="1" /> not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!&#8221;

So Simon Peter<n id="1" /> gestured to this disciple<n id="2" /> to ask Jesus<n id="3" /> who it was he was referring to.<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two disciples who heard what John said<n id="1" /> and followed Jesus.<n id="2" />

He first<n id="1" /> found his own brother Simon and told him, &#8220;We have found the Messiah!&#8221;<n id="2" /> (which is translated Christ).<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">Simon Peter said to him, &#8220;Lord, where are you going?&#8221; Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.&#8221;

Then Simon Peter, who had been following him, arrived and went right into the tomb. He saw<n id="1" /> the strips of linen cloth lying there,

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, &#8220;Simon, son of John,<n id="1" /> do you love me more than these do?&#8221;<n id="2" /> He replied,<n id="3" /> &#8220;Yes, Lord, you know I love you.&#8221;<n id="4" /> Jesus<n id="5" /> told him, &#8220;Feed my lambs.&#8221;

Andrew brought Simon<n id="1" /> to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, &#8220;You are Simon, the son of John.<n id="2" /> You will be called Cephas&#8221; (which is translated Peter).<n id="3" />p>

Jesus replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread<n id="2" /> after I have dipped it in the dish.&#8221;<n id="3" /> Then he dipped the piece of bread in the dish<n id="4" /> and gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon&#8217;s son.

<p class="bodytext">Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, pulled it out and struck the high priest&#8217;s slave,<n id="1" /> cutting off his right ear.<n id="2" /> (Now the slave&#8217;s name was Malchus.)<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Simon Peter and another disciple followed them as they brought Jesus to Annas.<n id="1" /> (Now the other disciple<n id="2" /> was acquainted with the high priest, and he went with Jesus into the high priest&#8217;s courtyard.)<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Meanwhile Simon Peter was standing in the courtyard<n id="1" /> warming himself. They said to him, &#8220;You aren&#8217;t one of his disciples too, are you?&#8221;<n id="2" /> Peter<n id="3" /> denied it: &#8220;I am not!&#8221;

So she went running<n id="1" /> to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved and told them, &#8220;They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don&#8217;t know where they have put him!&#8221;

Simon Peter, Thomas<n id="1" /> (called Didymus),<n id="2" /> Nathanael<n id="3" /> (who was from Cana<n id="4" /> in Galilee), the sons<n id="5" /> of Zebedee,<n id="6" /> and two other disciples<n id="7" /> of his were together.

Simon Peter told them, &#8220;I am going fishing.&#8221; &#8220;We will go with you,&#8221; they replied.<n id="1" /> They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.p>
