But when Paul appealed to be kept in custody for the decision of His Majesty the Emperor,<n id="1" /> I ordered him to be kept under guard until I could send him to Caesar.&#8221;<n id="2" />

After they had beaten them severely,<n id="1" /> they threw them into prison and commanded<n id="2" /> the jailer to guard them securely.

He ordered the centurion<n id="1" /> to guard Paul,<n id="2" /> but to let him have some freedom,<n id="3" /> and not to prevent any of his friends<n id="4" /> from meeting his needs.<n id="5" />p>

Then Festus<n id="1" /> replied that Paul was being kept at Caesarea,<n id="2" /> and he himself intended to go there<n id="3" /> shortly.

So Peter was kept in prison, but those in the church were earnestly<n id="1" /> praying to God for him.<n id="2" />

But some from the religious party of the Pharisees<n id="1" /> who had believed stood up and said, &#8220;It is necessary<n id="2" /> to circumcise the Gentiles<n id="3" /> and to order them to observe<n id="4" /> the law of Moses.&#8221;p>

On that very night before Herod was going to bring him out for trial,<n id="1" /> Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, while<n id="2" /> guards in front of the door were keeping watch<n id="3" /> over the prison.
