(Now there were about twelve men in all.)<n id="1" />p>

(Now about five thousand men<n id="1" /> were there.)<n id="2" /> Then<n id="3" /> he said to his disciples, &#8220;Have<n id="4" /> them sit down in groups of about fifty each.&#8221;

Not counting women and children, there were about five thousand men who ate.p>

But these words seemed like pure nonsense<n id="1" /> to them, and they did not believe them.

It shrieked, threw him into terrible convulsions, and came out. The boy<n id="1" /> looked so much like a corpse that many said, &#8220;He is dead!&#8221;

<t /><p class="bodytext">So<n id="1" /> Jesus, when he began his ministry,<n id="2" /> was about thirty years old. He was<n id="3" /> the son (as was supposed)<n id="4" /> of Joseph, the son<n id="5" /> of Heli,

He went away from them about a stone&#8217;s throw, knelt down, and prayed,

<p class="bodytext">It was now<n id="1" /> about noon,<n id="2" /> and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon,<n id="3" />

And tongues spreading out like a fire<n id="1" /> appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.

So those who accepted<n id="1" /> his message<n id="2" /> were baptized, and that day about three thousand people<n id="3" /> were added.<n id="4" />p>

When<n id="1" /> he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless,<n id="2" /> like sheep without a shepherd.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> about eight days<n id="2" /> after these sayings, Jesus<n id="3" /> took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up the mountain to pray.

And in his anguish<n id="1" /> he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.]<n id="2" />

And after about an hour still another insisted,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean.&#8221;<n id="2" />

All<n id="1" /> who were sitting in the council<n id="2" /> looked intently at Stephen<n id="3" /> and saw his face was like the face of an angel.<n id="4" />p>

About three o&#8217;clock one afternoon<n id="1" /> he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God<n id="2" /> who came in<n id="3" /> and said to him, &#8220;Cornelius.&#8221;

But when they recognized<n id="1" /> that he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Great is Artemis<n id="3" /> of the Ephesians!&#8221; for about two hours.<n id="4" />

After<n id="1" /> Jesus was baptized, just as he was coming up out of the water, the<n id="2" /> heavens<n id="3" /> opened<n id="4" /> and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove<n id="5" /> and coming on him.

and do not present your members to sin as instruments<n id="1" /> to be used for unrighteousness,<n id="2" /> but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instruments<n id="3" /> to be used for righteousness.
