<p class="poetry">Give us today our daily bread,<n id="1" />p>

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> Jesus<n id="2" /> went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.

So they said to him, &#8220;Sir,<n id="1" /> give us this bread all the time!&#8221;p>

<p class="bodytext">Then Jesus told them, &#8220;I tell you the solemn truth,<n id="1" /> it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven.

Is<n id="1" /> there anyone among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.

<p class="bodyblock">For John the Baptist has come<n id="1" /> eating no bread and drinking no wine,<n id="2" /> and you say, &#8216;He has a demon!&#8217;<n id="3" />

But some boats from Tiberias<n id="1" /> came to shore<n id="2" /> near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.<n id="3" />

<p class="bodytext">When they got out on the beach,<n id="1" /> they saw a charcoal fire ready<n id="2" /> with a fish placed on it, and bread.

Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.

Then Paul<n id="1" /> went back upstairs,<n id="2" /> and after he had broken bread and eaten, he talked with them<n id="3" /> a long time, until dawn. Then he left.

After he said this, Paul<n id="1" /> took bread<n id="2" /> and gave thanks to God in front of them all,<n id="3" /> broke<n id="4" /> it, and began to eat.

&#8220;Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don&#8217;t wash their<n id="1" /> hands when they eat.&#8221;<n id="2" />

&#8220;It is not right<n id="1" /> to take the children&#8217;s bread and throw it to the dogs,&#8221;<n id="2" /> he said.<n id="3" />

He instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff<n id="1" /> &#8211; no bread, no bag,<n id="2" /> no money in their belts &#8211;

He said to her, &#8220;Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not right to take the children&#8217;s bread and to throw it to the dogs.&#8221;<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">While they were eating, he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it, gave it to them, and said, &#8220;Take it. This is my body.&#8221;

He<n id="1" /> said to them, &#8220;Take nothing for your<n id="2" /> journey &#8211; no staff,<n id="3" /> no bag,<n id="4" /> no bread, no money, and do not take an extra tunic.<n id="5" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> one Sabbath when Jesus went to dine<n id="2" /> at the house of a leader<n id="3" /> of the Pharisees,<n id="4" /> they were watching<n id="5" /> him closely.
