And Zechariah, visibly shaken when he saw the angel,<n id="1" /> was seized with fear.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> when Jesus<n id="2" /> approached<n id="3" /> and saw the city, he wept over it,

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then he said to them, &#8220;Nation will rise up in arms<n id="1" /> against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

There was also an inscription<n id="1" /> over him, &#8220;This is the king of the Jews.&#8221;p>

And the child grew and became strong,<n id="1" /> filled with wisdom,<n id="2" /> and the favor<n id="3" /> of God<n id="4" /> was upon him.p>

Jesus answered him, &#8220;It is written, &#8216;<b><i>Mani>b><n id="1" /> <b><i>does not live by bread alonei>b>.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />p>

When<n id="1" /> the Lord saw her, he had compassion<n id="2" /> for her and said to her, &#8220;Do not weep.&#8221;<n id="3" />

Everyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces,<n id="1" /> and the one on whom it falls will be crushed.&#8221;<n id="2" />

Wherever<n id="1" /> they do not receive you,<n id="2" /> as you leave that town,<n id="3" /> shake the dust off<n id="4" /> your feet as a testimony against them.&#8221;

And if a peace-loving person<n id="1" /> is there, your peace will remain on him, but if not, it will return to you.<n id="2" />

Won&#8217;t<n id="1" /> God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out<n id="2" /> to him day and night?<n id="3" /> Will he delay<n id="4" /> long to help them?

But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to be their king,<n id="1" /> bring them here and slaughter<n id="2" /> them<n id="3" /> in front of me!&#8217;&#8221;p>

Then<n id="1" /> Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard,<n id="2" /> and the elders who had come out to get him, &#8220;Have you come out with swords and clubs like you would against an outlaw?<n id="3" />

And after about an hour still another insisted,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Certainly this man was with him, because he too is a Galilean.&#8221;<n id="2" />

But Jesus turned to them and said, &#8220;Daughters of Jerusalem,<n id="1" /> do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves<n id="2" /> and for your children.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> there was a man in Jerusalem<n id="2" /> named Simeon who was righteous<n id="3" /> and devout, looking for the restoration<n id="4" /> of Israel, and the Holy Spirit<n id="5" /> was upon him.

and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove.<n id="1" /> And a voice came from heaven, &#8220;You are my one dear Son;<n id="2" /> in you I take great delight.&#8221;<n id="3" />p>

But in truth I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in Elijah&#8217;s days,<n id="1" /> when the sky<n id="2" /> was shut up three and a half years, and<n id="3" /> there was a great famine over all the land.

Jesus<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;No one who puts his<n id="2" /> hand to the plow and looks back<n id="3" /> is fit for the kingdom of God.&#8221;<n id="4" />p>
