the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi,

raised their voices and said, &#8220;Jesus, Master, have mercy<n id="1" /> on us.&#8221;

So<n id="1" /> he called out,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Jesus, Son of David,<n id="3" /> have mercy<n id="4" /> on me!&#8221;

Then<n id="1" /> he said, &#8220;Jesus, remember me<n id="2" /> when you come in<n id="3" /> your kingdom.&#8221;

He went to Pilate and asked for the body<n id="1" /> of Jesus.

but when they went in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.<n id="1" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now when<n id="1" /> all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. And while he was praying,<n id="2" /> the heavens<n id="3" /> opened,

But they were filled with mindless rage<n id="1" /> and began debating with one another what they would do<n id="2" /> to Jesus.p>

&#8220;Ha! Leave us alone,<n id="1" /> Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are &#8211; the Holy One<n id="2" /> of God.&#8221;

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus&#8217; knees, saying, &#8220;Go away from me, Lord,<n id="1" /> for I am a sinful man!&#8221;<n id="2" />

When the centurion<n id="1" /> heard<n id="2" /> about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders<n id="3" /> to him, asking him to come<n id="4" /> and heal his slave.

<t /><p class="bodytext">While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared,<n id="1" /> and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked up<n id="2" /> to Jesus to kiss him.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">As<n id="1" /> they led him away, they seized Simon of Cyrene,<n id="2" /> who was coming in from the country.<n id="3" /> They placed the cross on his back and made him carry it behind Jesus.<n id="4" />

But<n id="1" /> since they found<n id="2" /> no way to carry him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof<n id="3" /> and let him down on the stretcher<n id="4" /> through the roof tiles<n id="5" /> right<n id="6" /> in front of Jesus.<n id="7" />

When he saw<n id="1" /> Jesus, he cried out, fell<n id="2" /> down before him, and shouted with a loud voice, &#8220;Leave me alone,<n id="3" /> Jesus, Son of the Most High<n id="4" /> God! I beg you, do not torment<n id="5" /> me!&#8221;

So<n id="1" /> the people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus. They<n id="2" /> found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus&#8217; feet, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.

Then<n id="1" /> a man named Jairus, who was a ruler<n id="2" /> of the synagogue,<n id="3" /> came up. Falling<n id="4" /> at Jesus&#8217; feet, he pleaded<n id="5" /> with him to come to his house,

He<n id="1" /> said to them, &#8220;What things?&#8221; &#8220;The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene,&#8221; they replied, &#8220;a man<n id="2" /> who, with his powerful deeds and words, proved to be a prophet<n id="3" /> before God and all the people;
