And he is also the father of the circumcised,<n id="1" /> who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham possessed when he was still uncircumcised.<n id="2" />p>

So when Peter went up to Jerusalem,<n id="1" /> the circumcised believers<n id="2" /> took issue with<n id="3" /> him,

<p class="bodytext">Therefore what advantage does the Jew have, or what is the value of circumcision?

<p class="bodytext">For there are many<n id="1" /> rebellious people, idle talkers, and deceivers, especially those with Jewish connections,<n id="2" />

And will not the physically uncircumcised man<n id="1" /> who keeps the law judge you who, despite<n id="2" /> the written code<n id="3" /> and circumcision, transgress the law?

For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised<n id="1" /> on behalf of God&#8217;s truth to confirm the promises made to the fathers,<n id="2" />

On the contrary, when they saw<n id="1" /> that I was entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised<n id="2" /> just as Peter was to the circumcised<n id="3" />

(for he who empowered<n id="1" /> Peter for his apostleship<n id="2" /> to the circumcised<n id="3" /> also empowered me for my apostleship to the Gentiles)<n id="4" />

The<n id="1" /> circumcised believers<n id="2" /> who had accompanied Peter were greatly astonished<n id="3" /> that<n id="4" /> the gift of the Holy Spirit<n id="5" /> had been poured out<n id="6" /> even on the Gentiles,

Until<n id="1" /> certain people came from James, he had been eating with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he stopped doing this<n id="2" /> and separated himself<n id="3" /> because he was afraid of those who were pro-circumcision.<n id="4" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh &#8211; who are called &#8220;uncircumcision&#8221; by the so-called &#8220;circumcision&#8221; that is performed on the body<n id="1" /> by human hands &#8211;

And Jesus who is called Justus also sends greetings. In terms of Jewish converts,<n id="1" /> these are the only fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me.

Then God<n id="1" /> gave Abraham<n id="2" /> the covenant<n id="3" /> of circumcision, and so he became the father of Isaac and circumcised him when he was eight days old,<n id="4" /> and Isaac became the father of<n id="5" /> Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.<n id="6" />

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised,<n id="1" /> so that he would become<n id="2" /> the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised,<n id="3" /> that they too could have righteousness credited to them.
