But Peter began and explained it to them point by point,<n id="1" /> saying,

Peter looked directly<n id="1" /> at him (as did John) and said, &#8220;Look at us!&#8221;

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit,<n id="1" /> replied,<n id="2" /> &#8220;Rulers of the people and elders,<n id="3" />

But Peter said, &#8220;Certainly not, Lord, for I have never eaten anything defiled and ritually unclean!&#8221;<n id="1" />

They<n id="1" /> called out to ask if Simon, known as Peter,<n id="2" /> was staying there as a guest.

for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising<n id="1" /> God. Then Peter said,

So when Peter went up to Jerusalem,<n id="1" /> the circumcised believers<n id="2" /> took issue with<n id="3" /> him,

Now Peter continued knocking, and when they opened the door<n id="1" /> and saw him, they were greatly astonished.<n id="2" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time<n id="1" /> for prayer,<n id="2" /> at three o&#8217;clock in the afternoon.<n id="3" />

But Peter and the apostles replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;We must obey<n id="2" /> God rather than people.<n id="3" />

Now<n id="1" /> send men to Joppa<n id="2" /> and summon a man named Simon,<n id="3" /> who is called Peter.

But Peter helped him up,<n id="1" /> saying, &#8220;Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.&#8221;<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">Then Peter started speaking:<n id="1" /> &#8220;I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people,<n id="2" />

<p class="bodytext">At daybreak<n id="1" /> there was great consternation<n id="2" /> among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.

In those days<n id="1" /> Peter stood up among the believers<n id="2" /> (a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

But Peter and John replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;Whether it is right before God to obey<n id="2" /> you rather than God, you decide,

Peter said to her, &#8220;Tell me, were the two of you<n id="1" /> paid this amount<n id="2" /> for the land?&#8221; Sapphira<n id="3" /> said, &#8220;Yes, that much.&#8221;

But Peter said to him, &#8220;May your silver perish with you,<n id="1" /> because you thought you could acquire<n id="2" /> God&#8217;s gift with money!

Peter<n id="1" /> said to him, &#8220;Aeneas, Jesus the Christ<n id="2" /> heals you. Get up and make your own bed!&#8221;<n id="3" /> And immediately he got up.

<p class="bodytext">About noon<n id="1" /> the next day, while they were on their way and approaching<n id="2" /> the city, Peter went up on the roof<n id="3" /> to pray.
