Woe<n id="1" /> to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days!

All the law and the prophets depend<n id="1" /> on these two commandments.&#8221;p>

They<n id="1" /> love the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues<n id="2" />

and elaborate greetings<n id="1" /> in the marketplaces, and to have people call them &#8216;Rabbi.&#8217;

Thus whenever you do charitable giving,<n id="1" /> do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in synagogues<n id="2" /> and on streets so that people will praise them. I tell you the truth,<n id="3" /> they have their reward.

<t /><p class="bodytext">&#8220;Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues<n id="1" /> and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

For in those days before the flood, people<n id="1" /> were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark.

<t /><p class="bodytext">In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness<n id="1" /> of Judea proclaiming,

When Jesus saw their reaction he said, &#8220;Why do you respond with evil in your hearts?

Beware<n id="1" /> of people, because they will hand you over to councils<n id="2" /> and flog<n id="3" /> you in their synagogues.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">When<n id="1" /> Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their towns.p>

<p class="bodytext">&#8220;To<n id="1" /> what should I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces who call out to one another,<n id="2" />p>

And you say, &#8216;If we had lived in the days of our ancestors,<n id="1" /> we would not have participated with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.&#8217;

The<n id="1" /> foolish ones said to the wise, &#8216;Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.&#8217;

But the angel said<n id="1" /> to the women, &#8220;Do not be afraid; I know<n id="2" /> that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.<n id="3" />

<t /><p class="bodytext">Jesus<n id="1" /> went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,<n id="2" /> preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.

<t /><p class="bodytext">Then Jesus went throughout all the towns<n id="1" /> and villages, teaching in their synagogues,<n id="2" /> preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness.<n id="3" />

Take my yoke<n id="1" /> on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
