<p class="poetry">You sold Judeans and Jerusalemites to the Greeks,p> <p class="poetry">removing them far from their own country.<n id="1" />p>

<p class="poetry">I will sell your sons and daughters to<n id="1" /> the people of Judah.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">They will sell them to the Sabeans,<n id="3" /> a nation far away.p> <p class="poetry">Indeed, the <sc>Lordsc> has spoken!p>

<t /><p class="poetry">This<n id="1" /> is the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s message<n id="2" /> that was given<n id="3" />p> <p class="poetry">to Joel<n id="4" /> the son of Pethuel:p>

<p class="poetry">The vine has dried up;p> <p class="poetry">the fig tree languishes &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">the pomegranate, date, and apple<n id="1" /> as well.p> <p class="poetry">In fact,<n id="2" /> all the trees of the field have dried up.p> <p class="poetry">Indeed, the joy of the people<n id="3" /> has dried up!p>

<p class="poetry">Citizens of Zion,<n id="1" /> rejoice!p> <p class="poetry">Be glad because of what the <sc>Lordsc> your God has done!<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">For he has given to you the early rains<n id="3" /> as vindication.p> <p class="poetry">He has sent<n id="4" /> to you the rains &#8211;p> <p class="poetry">both the early and the late rains<n id="5" /> as formerly.p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> roars from Zion;p> <p class="poetry">from Jerusalem<n id="1" /> his voice bellows out.<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">The heavens<n id="3" /> and the earth shake.p> <p class="poetry">But the <sc>Lordsc> is a refuge for his people;p> <p class="poetry">he is a stronghold for the citizens<n id="4" /> of Israel.p>

<p class="poetry">Egypt will be desolatep> <p class="poetry">and Edom will be a desolate wilderness,p> <p class="poetry">because of the violence they did to the people of Judah,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">in whose land they shed innocent blood.p>

<t /><p class="poetry"><v id="(3:1)" /><n id="1" /> After all of this<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">I will pour out my Spirit<n id="3" /> on all kinds of people.<n id="4" />p> <p class="poetry">Your sons and daughters will prophesy.p> <p class="poetry">Your elderly will have revelatory dreams;<n id="5" />p> <p class="poetry">your young men will see prophetic visions.p>
