<t /><p class="bodytext">Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the <sc>Lordsc> God moving about<n id="1" /> in the orchard at the breezy time<n id="2" /> of the day, and they hid<n id="3" /> from the <sc>Lordsc> God among the trees of the orchard.

Manasseh passed away<n id="1" /> and was buried in his palace garden, the garden of Uzzah, and his son Amon replaced him as king.p>

<p class="sosspeaker"><b><i>The Beloved to Her Lover:i>b>p> <p class="poetry">Awake, O north wind; come, O south wind!p> <p class="poetry">Blow on my garden so that its fragrant spices may send out their sweet smell.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">May my beloved come into his gardenp> <p class="poetry">and eat its delightful fruit!p>

The woman said to the serpent, &#8220;We may eat<n id="1" /> of the fruit from the trees of the orchard;

<t /><p class="sosspeaker"><b><i>The Lover to His Beloved:i>b>p> <p class="poetry">You are a locked garden,<n id="1" /> my sister, my bride;p> <p class="poetry">you are an enclosed spring, a sealed-up fountain.p>

<p class="poetry">You are a garden spring,<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">a well<n id="2" /> of fresh water<n id="3" /> flowing down from Lebanon.p>

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> God planted an orchard<n id="1" /> in the east,<n id="2" /> in Eden;<n id="3" /> and there he placed the man he had formed.<n id="4" />

<p class="bodytext">Now<n id="1" /> a river flows<n id="2" /> from Eden<n id="3" /> top> <p class="bodytext">water the orchard, and from there it divides<n id="4" /> into four headstreams.<n id="5" />

<p class="bodytext">The <sc>Lordsc> God took the man and placed<n id="1" /> him in the orchard in<n id="2" /> Eden to care for it and to maintain it.<n id="3" />

Then the <sc>Lordsc> God commanded<n id="1" /> the man, &#8220;You may freely eat<n id="2" /> fruit<n id="3" /> from every tree of the orchard,

The man replied,<n id="1" /> &#8220;I heard you moving about<n id="2" /> in the orchard, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.&#8221;

So the <sc>Lordsc> God expelled him<n id="1" /> from the orchard in Eden to cultivate the ground from which he had been taken.

He was buried<n id="1" /> in his tomb in the garden of Uzzah, and his son Josiah replaced him as king.p>

<p class="poetry">I made it beautiful with its many branches;p> <p class="poetry">all the trees of Eden, in the garden of God, envied it.p>

<p class="poetry">The cedars in the garden of God could not eclipse it,p> <p class="poetry">nor could the fir trees<n id="1" /> match its boughs;p> <p class="poetry">the plane trees were as nothing compared to its branches;p> <p class="poetry">no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.p>

but concerning the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the orchard God said, &#8216;You must not eat from it, and you must not touch it,<n id="1" /> or else you will die.&#8217;&#8221;<n id="2" />

When he drove<n id="1" /> the man out, he placed on the eastern side<n id="2" /> of the orchard in Eden angelic sentries<n id="3" /> who used the flame of a whirling sword<n id="4" /> to guard the way to the tree of life.p>

<p class="poetry">The <sc>Lordsc> will continually lead you;p> <p class="poetry">he will feed you even in parched regions.<n id="1" />p> <p class="poetry">He will give you renewed strength,<n id="2" />p> <p class="poetry">and you will be like a well-watered garden,p> <p class="poetry">like a spring that continually produces water.p>
