The priests and Levites carried the ark, the tent where God appeared to his people,<n id="1" /> and all the holy items in the tent.<n id="2" />

Judah was defeated by Israel, and each man ran back home.<n id="1" />

<p class="bodytext">Solomon left the meeting tent at the worship center in Gibeon and went to Jerusalem, where he reigned over Israel.<n id="1" />p>

They also attacked the tents of the herdsmen in charge of the livestock.<n id="1" /> They carried off many sheep and camels and then returned to Jerusalem.<n id="2" />p>

(Now David had brought up the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to the place he had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.<n id="1" />

Solomon went up to the bronze altar before the <sc>Lordsc> which was at the meeting tent, and he offered up a thousand burnt sacrifices.p>

<p class="bodytext">When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, the people answered the king, &#8220;We have no portion in David &#8211; no share in the son of Jesse!<n id="1" /> Return to your homes, O Israel!<n id="2" /> Now, look after your own dynasty, O David!&#8221;<n id="3" /> So all Israel returned to their homes.<n id="4" />

Solomon and the entire assembly went to the worship center<n id="1" /> in Gibeon, for the tent where they met God<n id="2" /> was located there, which Moses the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s servant had made in the wilderness.

On the twenty-third day of the seventh month, Solomon<n id="1" /> sent the people home. They left<n id="2" /> happy and contented<n id="3" /> because of the good the <sc>Lordsc> had done for David, Solomon, and his people Israel.p>

<p class="bodytext">So the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest,<n id="1" /> and said to him, &#8220;Why have you not made<n id="2" /> the Levites collect<n id="3" /> from Judah and Jerusalem the tax authorized by Moses the <sc>Lordsc>&#8217;s servant and by the assembly of Israel at the tent containing the tablets of the law?&#8221;<n id="4" />
